Ilkay is a self-taught abstract artist born in Istanbul, Turkey. She has moved to Sydney, Australia in 2016 as an engineer in search of a bit of an adventure, and better quality of life. Even though she has always been fascinated with arts and beauty, considering her past in ballet, acting, and drawing, in Sydney, she's discovered specifically her passion for colours and story telling through abstract forms.

She has started painting initially with acrylic in 2021, and since exhibited internationally including Sydney and Paris. Abstract art feels like magic to her, and she thinks it's a direct form of communication with the subconscious mind. She stops working on a painting, only when her heart feels clear of its message.
